Designing the Modesto Children’s Museum was a joyful and deeply engaging experience from the start. As architects, we were inspired by the energy and curiosity of the children who would one day explore this space. Our design vision centered around creating an environment that encourages hands-on learning, exploration, and creativity. From the building’s vibrant exterior to the flexible, light-filled interiors, every design choice was made to ignite imagination and support interactive play for all ages.

 

We worked closely with the client team to ensure that the layout would flow intuitively while supporting a wide variety of exhibits and activity zones. The open-plan design allows for visibility across spaces, fostering safety while encouraging a sense of freedom. Bright colors, tactile materials, and custom-designed architectural features create zones that are playful yet educational. Acoustics, lighting, and circulation patterns were all carefully studied to make sure both children and adults would feel comfortable and engaged throughout their visit.

 

The museum’s role as a cultural and educational anchor in downtown Modesto was also central to our approach. We prioritized transparency and accessibility by incorporating large windows and inviting entryways that welcome the community inside. Whether it’s a school field trip, weekend family outing, or a special event, the Modesto Children’s Museum is designed to be a space where fun and learning meet—and we’re proud to have helped bring it to life.

RED INC ARCHITECTS is proud to lead the multi-phase transformation of the former Embassy Suites in Napa into a sophisticated Curio Collection by Hilton. This extensive renovation reimagines the property with a fresh, elevated identity while honoring the charm of Napa’s wine country. Guestrooms are being thoughtfully upgraded with high-end finishes, modern lighting, and curated furnishings to reflect the Curio brand’s distinctive style.

 

The redesigned lobby will serve as a refined arrival experience, blending relaxed elegance with local character—featuring new lounge areas, a reconfigured reception space, and elevated material selections throughout. Enhancing the property’s appeal even further, the project includes the creation of a new outdoor pool area and flexible outdoor venue spaces designed for social gatherings and private events.

 

This transformation not only revitalizes the guest experience but also repositions the hotel as a destination-worthy retreat in the heart of Napa. With careful attention to detail, brand alignment, and site-sensitive design, the Curio by Hilton Napa will offer an authentic, upscale stay that reflects the spirit and sophistication of its renowned surroundings.

In a major effort to enhance emergency care services, Sutter Memorial Hospital in Modesto completed a comprehensive remodel of its Emergency Department between 2014 and 2015. This transformation was designed to address increasing patient volumes, reduce wait times, and streamline the delivery of urgent medical care. The renovation project focused on modernizing the facility while implementing innovative approaches to emergency room operations.

 

A key feature of the remodel was the introduction of a dedicated “fast-track” area—an express treatment zone aimed at quickly addressing minor injuries and illnesses. By diverting less critical cases from the main emergency room workflow, the fast-track system has helped significantly ease congestion, allowing medical staff to focus more effectively on serious or life-threatening conditions.

The redesign also included upgrades to treatment rooms, triage stations, and support areas, all aimed at improving patient comfort and staff efficiency. Updated finishes, better lighting, and a more intuitive layout contribute to a calmer and more organized environment for both patients and healthcare professionals.

 

This remodel reflects Sutter Health’s ongoing commitment to excellence in patient-centered care and its strategic investment in facilities that better serve the growing Central Valley population. The Emergency Department’s modernization ensures that the hospital remains well-equipped to meet the evolving needs of the community—today and into the future.

Designed with sustainability at its core, this state-of-the-art veterinary hospital sets a new standard for environmentally conscious animal care facilities. The building features seven exam rooms, six treatment tables, an ICU, a dual surgery suite, and advanced imaging capabilities including digital radiography and ultrasound.

 

Sustainable strategies are integrated throughout, including a 300,000-gallon cistern for water collection, high-efficiency irrigation and drainage systems, photovoltaic solar panels, and the use of recycled and low-impact materials. A lush roof garden further enhances the building’s ecological footprint, contributing to insulation and stormwater management.

 

Complementing the main facility is a 2,600 square foot large animal treatment barn, offering specialized care for larger species in a thoughtfully designed, functional space. This project demonstrates how high-performance design and veterinary excellence can go hand in hand.

The City of Modesto recently completed a comprehensive renovation of its historic transit center, originally constructed in 1915 as a Southern Pacific Railroad depot. The $5.23 million project, executed by Simile Construction Services, focused on modernizing the facility while preserving its Mission Revival architectural style. Key enhancements included expanding the lobby by removing interior walls, installing new restrooms, upgrading heating and air conditioning systems, and restoring the tile flooring and exterior stucco. Additionally, the adjacent bus bays, dating back to 1993, received improvements such as new lighting, landscaping, security cameras, and fresh paint.

 

A significant aspect of the renovation was the modernization of restroom facilities to meet contemporary hygiene standards and accommodate increased usage. Upgrades introduced touchless fixtures, in-wall sensors to deter vandalism, water-saving devices, and solid surface countertops for ease of maintenance. Restroom capacity was expanded to better serve both the public and transit staff, with configurations designed to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements.

 

Looking ahead, the Modesto Transit Center is poised to become a multimodal transportation hub with the anticipated arrival of the Altamont Corridor Express (ACE) rail service by late 2026. The integration of ACE will enhance regional connectivity, linking Modesto to key destinations such as Stockton, San Jose, and Sacramento. This development aligns with the city’s broader vision of fostering transit-oriented development, promoting affordable housing, and creating vibrant, walkable communities around transportation nodes.

The City of Turlock is advancing public transportation infrastructure through the development of the Turlock Transit Center, located on a currently vacant parcel within city limits. This project includes the construction of a modern, single-story transit building that will serve as a central hub for the community’s transit operations. The new facility is designed to provide a safe, convenient, and welcoming environment for transit riders, staff, and operators alike.

 

In addition to the new building, the project features comprehensive site improvements aimed at enhancing the functionality and comfort of the existing transit space. Key upgrades include the installation of durable, architecturally integrated shade structures at the existing bus bays—offering protection from sun and weather for waiting passengers—and improved pedestrian circulation throughout the site.

 

With a focus on accessibility, efficiency, and sustainability, the Turlock Transit Center will play a vital role in supporting the city’s growing transportation needs and encouraging greater use of public transit throughout the region.

The AC Hotel by Marriott is a hospitality project under development located in the heart of Silicon Valley, San Jose Cupertino. The project boasts 6 stories of guestrooms, a main level with lobby, bar, and meeting spaces, and 3 subgrade levels of back-of-house spaces and parking garage. This zero lot line infill project is situated on the former site of a gas station, making it an exciting and unique addition to the city’s landscape.


One of the standout features of this project is the use of modular construction for the guestrooms. The rooms will be factory-built off-site, then transported to the site to be set by a tower crane. This innovative construction method is not only time-efficient but also ensures consistent quality control. The result will be a sleek and modern interior design that will complement the project’s exterior.


The exterior of the AC Hotel by Marriott celebrates classic modern design with its European soul. The building’s minimalist lines and elegant finishes create a stunning visual impact that is both contemporary and timeless. This hospitality project promises to be a must-visit destination for business and leisure travelers alike, offering world-class amenities, exceptional service, and a prime location in the heart of Silicon Valley.
